Today is FOP Awareness Day. What’s that you might ask? FOP is a horrible gentic
disease that when a patient with FOP is injured or has any type of trauma causing
swelling the body wants to replace the swollen tissue with bone. This causes the body
to create an additional skeleton. The ultimate result is making the patient immobile.
Why do we care? Other than the fact that is is a horrible life changing disease, Dr.
Wheelock and office manager, Marilyn Wheelock’s grandson Lincoln has FOP. For more
information on the disease, fundraising efforts, and awareness go to www.ifopa.org
